Hi family and friends! As the last of the three big volcanoes of the Ecuador Expedition, the team attempted Chimborazo. The climbers started the climb from the Stubel Camp and cruised the glacier of the same name up to the Castle Ridge. The weather was clear, a starry night and no wind. They were going strong, overcame the rocky step and climbed a steep snow slope to get to 19,100 feet. Here, they dug another snow pit to check the snowpack. The result was not good, it was unsafe to continue climbing. After a swift descend, they climbed into their tents to rest until dawn. Anyway, it was a very rewarding climb for the team members as they were well acclimated and going strong. Congratulations on another great performance! They are leaving Ecuador with a lot of new experiences and satisfied having summited two of the big Ecuadorian volcanoes. They are highly motivated to keep climbing.
