Hi everyone,
Here’s an update from the group! we visited Cotopaxi and could see how dry it was, with falling rocks and hard ice. We made the tough call to change our objective. This was something unexpected for many, and we chose another mountain with a large glacier, cut and incredible. We went to Cayambe, a 19.000 feet tall mountain located in the middle of the world, with a super picturesque ascent route.

The team was ready and we headed north towards the Cayambe. 5 of the 8 climbers made the summit, each one enjoyed the mountain in their own way, some reaching their maximum summit and others up to where they felt that that day was their limit. All enjoyed their accomplishment immensely.

What a great group of people to spend the expedition with! We had a great farewell dinner with the whole group, and we wished 3 of our climbers luck as they headed to Chimborazo as an extension of the trip. we’ll have summit news this morning as I write this.

It has been my pleasure to share the mountains, the culture, and to show and share Ecuador. Thanks to my fellow guides who were on the ascents, Romel, Manuel, Francisco and Fatima who was with me for most of the trip. Fatima is the 3rd woman mountain guide in Ecuador and an IFMGA aspirant, and it has been a pleasure to guide together.
Until next time,
Juliana
