2017 Everest Trek/Island Peak Expedition Begins

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

Welcome to our coverage of the Fall 2017 Everest Base Camp trek and Island Peak climb. We (Carole and Vern Tejas) are excited to kick off the expedition tomorrow, when most of the team members will arrive here in Kathmandu. We spent today doing final preparations and buying some food and supplies to take with us to the Khumbu Valley, where we will be trekking and climbing.

Kathmandu is bustling at the moment. The monsoon rains have recently ended so the air is clean and clear. People are back to work after 15 days of rest and celebration during the Dashain Festival, the most important Nepali festival of the year, which ended a couple of days ago. It’s a perfect time to launch our trip.

We will, technology permitting, try to post a recap of our adventures on a near-daily basis, so please stay tuned!
