Aconcagua Final Trip Prepares to Launch

Hola Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

Alpine Ascents guides Vern and Carole Tejas here, reporting in from beautiful Mendoza, Argentina, where we are busy shopping, organizing and packing food and supplies for our upcoming climb on the Normal Route to the highest point in South America. Together with help from Alpine Ascents’ Asst. Operations Manager and super-shopper Dani Nelson, we have combed the aisles of just about every supermercado in town, selecting the very best provisions for our trip.

We’ve got a mountain of stuff that will be carried into basecamp by mules in a couple of days— 15 crates of food, 5 barrels of tents, stoves and kitchen items and one cooler jammed full of fruit and other goodies.

Now all that’s left for us to do is to greet our group at the airport tomorrow and climb the darned mountain! We’re psyched to get the trip underway!
