Eric Murphy K2 trekking team arrives to Skardu
Hi everyone,
Warm greetings from Skardu, in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Northern Pakistan. The gateway to the mighty Karakoram mountain range.
Today we were able to fly from Islamabad, the capitol city on a short but incredibly scenic 45 minute flight to Skardu. Bob was able to get his 3 missing luggage’s and now we are all doing our final prep and organizing. Tomorrow, inshallah we will load up the 4×4 jeeps for the 7 hour adventure drive to Askoli village at 10,000 feet and the end of the road. From there we begin our 125 mile round trip trek up the rugged Braldu river valley and onto the 40 mile long Baltoro glacier.
The team is doing great and very excited for our adventure. We have already enjoy several lovely Pakistani meals together and yesterday was Independence Day with the streets full of families and celebration. All is well here!
