Hello Everyone,
Today we had a short walk (about 7 miles) and might have been the favorite so far amongst the group. First off, we started the morning with blue skies and had breakfast as the sun warmed us as it rose above the mountains. After breakfast we headed up a short hill and then continued up to the Lingshi Dzong (fortress). This fortress was damaged in the Nepal earthquake in 2015 and has since been abandoned. It was still quite impressive to visit this 16th century building perched high on a hill in the middle of the valley. Next we descended into Lingshi village where we got to visit a school and visit with the kids. They all spoke great English and were very welcoming to us. The rest of the day we had a pleasant walk high above the valley and river and stopped for lunch at another small village where some nice people let us come into their beautiful house to eat our lunch. One of my favorites things about these treks is visiting with locals and getting to experience and observe their culture. It’s the best thing about traveling and in my opinion the only way to realize that we are all just people trying for the same things and people are good.
We are having fun and enjoying our time here, thanks for following along!
Thanks,
Ben
