Hello friends, family and loved ones,
We weighed all of our gear and loaded our Boeing 757 today. Then we brainstormed a team name. Hence forward we shall be known as “Last 2, buys beer” Then we went to the park and literally climbed trees in order to perfect our self rescue capabilities. By attaching our ascender and Prussic lines to our climbing rope which we hung from large overhanging tree limb, we could simulate climbing out of a crevasse. I’m happy to report that all our team members quickly succeeded in removing themselves from the imaginary abyss.
After another amazing dinner of local cuisine we got the good news we were waiting all day for….tentatively we are to depart for Antarctica at 07:25 tomorrow morning. One last night in a comfy bed and indoor plumbing and we will be off to the “Ice”, weather permitting. Our pilot will give the weather briefing before we takeoff.
For the next few weeks we will call in daily via satellite phone. Please feel free to follow our progress climbing Mount Vinson, the highest in Antarctica, so you are in the know.
All our best,Vern Tejas
Dining is what we seem to do best.
Just hanging out in the park with friends.
