Vinson Team Fin del Mundo Chases more Penguins

Hola friends, family and loved ones!

High winds, deep snow and poor visibility in Antarctica all conspired to keep us from flying!
Making the best of it we decided to visit a Magellantic Penguin colony on a nearby island.
The ferry ride over was an easy hour and a half.

The penguinos were a riot. Thousands waddling around, some raising chicks and others sleeping inside burrows in the ground. (Pictured below: thee month old chicks are can be a handful.) A great day on the beach.

Taking the ferry back was a bit more exciting as the wind and waves had come up. We were all feeling a bit queasy by the time we got back to the mainland.

We are looking forward to getting out of town and getting on with our climb. The Fin del Mundos team is ready… Maybe tomorrow.

All our best, Vern Tejas and Team
