Hello family and friends! We are happy to announce that all team members reached the summit of the second highest mountain in Ecuador: Cotopaxi (19,347 feet). They all felt strong and well acclimated so that they could display their best on this very aesthetic climb. The weather was not the best but this was not an impediment for the enjoyment and performance of the climbers. The first rope team got to the top in 6 hours and 15 minutes. They were followed by the other two rope teams shortly afterwards. A good time for 4,114 feet of vertical gain at that altitude. The physical, technical and mental preparation of the team members paid off and the acclimatization schedule worked once more. Teamwork paid off too. Congratulations!!!
Not much to see from the summit due to the clouds but during the descend the climbers were delighted to see the fantastic features of the glacier. They had a good night of sleep after the climb and this morning contemplated the perfect conic shape of Cotopaxi from our lodge while sipping a cup of coffee.
We will continue our journey soon. We are traveling south to Riobamba city located close to Chimborazo, the tallest mountain in this beautiful country.
