Team Flies to Lukla

Friends, family & loved ones,

Bright and early this morning, we loaded ourselves up on several helicopters and flew from Kathmandu to Lukla.

After some refreshments there, the Team hit the trail and we began our trek in earnest.

We went over our first suspension bridge!

And stopped for some rest breaks and for lunch before arriving at our teahouse just above the village of Phakding just after 3 pm. Weather was passable today— cloudy and cool with only few raindrops 10 minutes before we reached our teahouse. After the craziness of the big city, everyone appreciated being on the trail and walking through the lush lower valley and the picturesque villages we passed through along the way.

Tonight we’re staying at the teahouse of some old friends of ours. We all received a very warm welcome upon our arrival, which was a nice way for the Team to experience their first night in the Khumbu.

Tomorrow, it’s onward and upward to Namche Bazaar. We’ll report back to you from there.
