Aconcagua 2/3 Team – The Adventure Begins!

Hola friends, family and loved ones,

After a sumptuous breakfast we loaded our mother ship of a bus and drove to the Andes. However the mother ship’s transmission went out while pulling a big hill! Ah, you gotta love adventure travel. A few hours in the hot sun and the passenger van that rescued us felt like heaven. To aid our acclimatization we took a short hike across the Rio Mendoza. The team was in good form and looks strong.

We had an impromptu geology seminar in which our geologist Matt told about the character of Felspar. Also discussed was the glacial silt that make the river the color of coffee.

And making good use of our time, we came up with a fitting name for our team. From hence forward we will be known as The Gelatos for our love of the ubiquitous Italian ice cream that is so popular here in Argentina. Please join us tomorrow when we begin our trek to Aconcagua!

All our best, Carolina y Vern Tejas
