The Hypoxic Hill Hoppers Take a Hike

Today we hiked from the village of Tuni over a 16,000 ft pass and down through a beautiful valley on the north side of Huayna Potosi to a low elevation of 11,800 ft. Part of our route was a piece of an ancient trading route between the high altitude plateau and the jungle and we even got to see some ruins. The views were spectacular! We also added pink flamencos to our list of Andean animal sightings of condor, viscacha, fox, and taruka (Andean Deer), along with hundreds of llama and alpaca.
Saludos,
Rachel
