It has been six days since the team arrived in Quito. We have been walking and acclimatizing in the Andes, starting in the historic center of Quito, among churches and chocolate.

We spent these days walking among volcanoes, jungle, and hot springs, a few miles each day, with views of the entire equator, passing through the equatorial line and ancient haciendas.
We started with the Pasochoa at 13.860 feet, a mountain that has a very special ecosystem inside its ancient crater, passing by haciendas, reaching the paramo (highlands) up to its rocky summit and back to our transport after 6hr with a nice weather. Afterwards with a well deserved rest and a good Andean meal.

Along the way, we have been able to see all of Ecuador’s glaciated mountains: Cayambe, Antisana, Cotopaxi, and Chimborazo.

We arrived at Cayambe, where the full moon and good weather followed us. We have already acclimatized on the Cayambe glacier and are now ready for our first attempt at the summit.
