Hi everyone!
Cayambe, has the special distinction of being the third highest mountain in the Americas north of the Equator line. John, Travis, Chris and Steve reached its summit yesterday morning in beautiful weather. Congratulations! They began the ascent at about midnight and after eight hours of climbing got to the top of this big volcano (5,789 m/18,993 ft.). During the climb, they could enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding highlands, mountains such as Chimborazo, Antisana and Cotopaxi and a sea of clouds over the Amazon Rain Forest. After the climb, they headed to the beautiful colonial Hacienda Pinsaqui where they are currently resting and recovering. Melanie and Alex decided to be conservative, save their strength and are looking forward to attempting Cotopaxi. The team is doing well and having a good time!
Thanks for following.
All the best from Ecuador and enjoy the pictures!
