Namaste friends, family and loved ones,
Welcome to the first Everest Basecamp Trek of 2019! We were up early to get a jump on the day for our tour of Katmandu.
First stop was the iconic Monkey temple. Next we paid a visit to Kathmandu Valley School, where some of the 55 children sponsored by Alpine Ascents’ Sherpa Education Fund are students. We hope that the kids had as much fun meeting us as we had meeting them.
We then walked around the largest Stupa in Nepal, called Boudnath, in a neighborhood also known as Little Tibet. At our last stop of the day, some of us even got blessed by a Sadhu with a red Tika on our foreheads.
This afternoon, we finally got around to the ever important gear check. Everyone is well prepared for our next couple of weeks exploring Nepal’s famous Khumbu Valley.
Tomorrow we fly up to the foothills of the high Himal! Thanks for following us,
Carole & Vern Tejas
