Assenders are descenders to Lobuche

Namaste friends, family and loved ones, Climbed Kalapattar early this morning. As we hiked up the moraine and onto the glacier towards Everest Base Camp yesterday, lenticular clouds over Everest warned us that a big cold front was approaching. We tucked into our tents early after that great chicken sizzler dinner. Winds aloft roared all night long, continuously rattling our tents. We awoke this morning to sunny, cold weather and headed back down to Lobuche. Before we left Base Camp, we saw two sizable avalanches, one just beyond the edge of the Khumbu icefall and one off of Nuptse, just to its South.   Now in Lobuche, we’ve got some time to breathe some thicker air, get cleaned up and prepare for 7 of our members to fly back to Kathmandu tomorrow. The Team is tired from the last few days but doing well. Thanks for following! Vern and Carole
