Cabbage-like flowers, a visit for tea out of the rain, and a beautiful meadow campsite round out a fabulous day for the Trekkers

Hello there friends, family, and loved ones, this is the Bhutan Trekkers checking in for the evening. It has been a fabulous, long day slogging through the rain, the mud, and a little bit of sunshine. We did discover a new flower, one of the most respected flowers in the whole country. Stands about three feet tall, looks sort of like purple cabbage. It was pretty impressive. (laughter in background)

We did also get invited in this afternoon, it was a wonderful thing, to a shepherds, excuse me not really a shepherds, a yakherders camp where we had some hot buttered tea and made friends with the locals. It was well timed because of the rain. Interesting campsite they have made out of wool blankets spread between vertical, upright beam parts – and it doesn’t leak! Smoke goes through it but water doesn’t go through it. So we were pretty amazed by that.

We’re ensconced in a beautiful little meadow here and going to go stand out by the fire for awhile and enjoy the fact that it’s not raining. So stay tuned for the further adventures of the Bhutan Trekkers for Alpine Ascents. Ta ta for now!
