Team Lucky Charms summits Kilimanjaro on a beautiful day with the spectacular views all to themselves!

Hello everyone, this is Ben calling in with the Lucky Charms group here on Kilimanjaro.  We have had us a very successful day, a very long day, but very successful.  We had 100% success on the summit today.  Everybody made it to the top and now we’re all the way back down (at around 12,000 feet) today/this evening, at our Millennium Camp.  So we’re heading down and out tomorrow.

Everybody did a fantastic job of pushing themselves and getting up to the top of the summit today.  We had a beautiful day.  It was very windy actually starting out, and we actually pushed our departure time up a couple hours and we didn’t end up leaving until around 1:40 in the morning, when we usually leave around midnight.  It was super windy so we pushed it back, which actually worked out really well for us, it was a little bit warmer as we got to the top.  And we had the summit to ourselves; we were able to take as many photos as we wanted to which was very nice.

Everybody’s exhausted here in camp.  We just finished up our last dinner here on the mountain and we’re heading off to bed here.

We’ve got a few people who’d like to say a few things here before we do our last cybercast:

“Hi, this is Vaune and I want to say for the family, friends, and vpi David checking in on the cybercasts to see how our team has been doing, I just want to make a quick note, I cannot wait to get back and show you all the photos of the summit that Ben talked about, so I can keep boring you on and on and on.  And I also want to say it’s amazing the cool people that I got to be with all this time.”

“Hi guys, this is Susie.  To all my friends, and family, all my loved ones, I want to let you that Sylvia and I bagged the peak today, it was awesome!  And we had a wicked time!  Eighteen hours of hiking will kind of wear you out, so looking forward to some Kilimanjaro beer tomorrow night.  Love you all, see you soon!”

“Hi there, this is Adrienne.  Just wanted to say ‘hello’ to all of my family and friends who have been following along this wonderful adventure.  Special message for Heather and Oliver: Auntie is sore, tired, and smelly, but really, really happy.  Love you guys, bye!”

“Hi, this is Sylvia.  So this is our last opportunity to say something, I just want to say ‘hi’ to (transmission choppy) just in case he’s following, I’m not sure where he is, Sarah in Magnolia (transmission choppy again) and his parents, and Tyler and Emory, and everybody else, family and friends.  Thanks for all your support, I look forward to seeing you all.  Bye.”

Alright, we’ve had a great trip here and just wanted to say tomorrow we’ve got our last hike, it’s around six hours to finish up the hike here on our Kilimanjaro trek to get back down to the Mweke Gate.  So hopefully we’ll be out tomorrow in early afternoon, we’ll drive back to Arusha and we’ll have a nice celebration dinner tomorrow night before most everybody heads out on safari after that.  So thanks for following along and we will talk to you one more time tomorrow to let you know we made it off the mountain safely and back to Arusha.  Talk to you soon.
