Team Kili Olympics feeling strong and excited at midnight as they head out for the summit under a bright moon and stars

Hello everyone, this is Ben calling in with Team Kili Olympics. We are at our High Camp currently and we are just walking out for the summit.

We got to High Camp about 1:30 this afternoon and had lunch, got packed up, talked about the summit, got a little rest in, came back for dinner, and then finally went to sleep for a few hours, and now we’ve just gotten up about an hour ago, about 11 o’clock Tanzania time here. And we are heading out for the summit right now, just a few minutes after twelve.

Everybody’s doing good. Everybody’s acclimatizing really well. Everybody felt actually very well when they got up here to Camp today, no headaches, no nauseous-ness anymore. People are doing very well up here with the altitude, and that’s awesome to see.

We’re heading up right now. We’ve got about six or seven hours probably to get to the summit; probably at around seven, we’ll get up there around sunrise. It’s a full moon right now, it’s beautiful. There are some clouds around but lots of stars out as well with some clouds down below us and a few up near the summit right this minute but it looks like it’s clearing. So we’ve got a beautiful night, full moon, hardly need our headlamps here it’s so bright out right now which is pretty cool.

And everybody’s excited. We’ll give you a call either once we’re on the summit or once we’re back down at our camp later this afternoon. We will come back down, after summiting, to our High Camp and pack up and head on down the mountain a bit further to just above 12,000 feet for our last night on the mountain tonight, down at Millennium Camp. So we’ll let you know for sure once we get down there and everybody’s doing well. Stay tuned. Thanks for following along. We’ll talk to you soon.
