Under sunny skies, Team 10 Tranquilo back carried from Amagino Col then hunkered down in their tents for a chilly night

Hey everybody, this is Dave Heinbach with Aconcagua Team 10, also known as Team Tranquilo.

Well today we did a back carry. We went back down and got all the stuff that we had cached earlier down in Amagino Col and brought it back up. We had really nice weather during the day, sunny skies a little on the chilly side. As the evening wore on, the clouds started stacking up, really an amazing show, some really large lenticular clouds up in the sky right now. High winds on the summit translating to high winds down lower as the evening is progressing. Right now the temperature outside the tent is about 10 degrees below zero Celsius, and winds are blowing probably about 30 kilometers per hour, so I’ll leave it up to you folks who have a little bit more oxygen to work with, to do the math to figure that out, but it’s pretty dang chilly up here.

Tomorrow we’re going to take a skill training day/rest day. We’re going to get out on some of these slopes around camp, practice our cramponing and our ice axe use, get ready for the snowy slopes of the upper mountain.

Sure has changed a lot since the last time I was up here personally, all this new snow really has changed the mountain quite a bit. Everyone on the team is doing really well. And that’s all we have to report for now. We’ll keep you posted.
