Team 12 flys from Talkeetna to Kahiltna Base Camp beginning their adventure with a delicious burger dinner in the splendor of the Alaska Range

Hello everyone, this is Ben, Willy, and John calling in here with Team 12 on Denali here.

We got into Base Camp after just waiting a couple hours at the airport and we’re all doing very well.

John just made us a delicious meal this evening of burgers. We got our tents installed here at camp, made a nice camp. And everybody’s off to bed for a good night of sleep tonight.

We’ve got a full day of reviewing a bunch of skills here at Base Camp tomorrow and tomorrow night/early in the morning or I guess very late at night, we will start on the glacier and get to our half camp. So a full day tomorrow of reviewing rope skills and getting packed up and ready to start heading on the glacier, out onto the Kahiltna.

So everybody’s doing great, sound asleep by now, and we’ll talk to you tomorrow.

  • Denali ’24 in a Nutshell

Submission by Jess, Alaska Operations. When I touched down in Talkeetna this year, greeted by sunny skies and perfect weather, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful for a smoother forecast for Denali climbing season compared to the previous year’s relentlessly poor weather. Julia was clearly on the same wavelength because just a few weeks before, […]
