Back in Chamonix and a Change in Venues

Jeff, Tasha, Jonathon and guides Dylan Taylor and I returned to Chamonix after a quick climb of the Aiguille du Tour this morning – retracing the better part of our route from the previous two days. There’s lots of snow on the peaks throughout the Alps making for slightly more challenging climbing than normal.

Upon returning to Chamonix and getting updates on conditions on the Mont Blanc plus a weather forecast, we decided to forgo climbing the Mont Blanc and head across the border to climb the Gran Paradiso – the highest peak in Italy.

Though it was a tough decision, we decided that the potential for both avalanche hazard due to warm temperatures plus a poor weather forecast deemed necessary the choice of a less exposed route for our summit climb. We will be driving through the Mont Blanc tunnel to the trailhead tomorrow and returning Saturday evening after out climb.

Ciao!
