2019 Sacred Valley Trek – Chincheros to Lamay

Hello Everyone,

Today we drove out of Cusco and headed to the village of Chincheros at an altitude of 12,500ft. After watching a demonstration of local women weaving textiles we viewed some Incan terraces and then put on our packs for a few hour hike down 2,500ft to the Sacred Valley. It was a beautiful hike down through a canyon to the Urubamba River. We loaded back up in the van for a short drive to the incredible lodge at Lamay at around 9,700ft, the lowest elevation we’ve been at since landing in Cusco. The afternoon was spent relaxing at the lodge before dinner with appetizers around a gas fire in the lodge. The dinner tonight was excellent, and we are all heading off to bed with full stomachs looking forward to another incredible day in Peru.

Thanks for following along,

Ben Jones
