Friends, family & loved ones,
Another full day on the trail and everyone is doing great. This morning, we visited the parents of Lhakpa and Kami Rita Sherpa at their home in Thame. They welcomed us with a cup of tea and it was a great opportunity to meet them and see how they live. Next stop was Khareganden Gompa, established in the early 1960s for some Buddhist nuns who fled Tibet. The nunnery has been rebuilt relatively recently and now is quite a beautiful place.
We continued to trek to the twin villages of Khunde and Khumjung. Some of us visited the Khunde Hospital, which serves this part of the Khumbu Valley and is run by an entirely Nepali staff.
We’re now ensconced for the night at our hotel in Khumjung. Cozy! Once again, no photos due to limited bandwidth- sorry!
We will check back with you tomorrow from Tengboche. Thanks for following!
