Everest Basecamp Trek – Khumbu Khrü Kruises to Tengboche

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

We’re having cheese and crackers in our teahouse in Tengboche looking out at the snow falling lightly outside.

The day started out clear, however, and we had great weather as we climbed up the hill outside of Namche this morning. We passed through Khumjung and visited the Hillary School, the only high school in the region. That’s a bust of Sir Edmund in the photo below.

We continued down the trail and descended to the river. We shared the trail today with many yaks carrying loads, including our own duffle bags. After lunch, took the shortcut trail up Tengboche Hill, gaining 2,000 feet. Once in Tengboche, we toured the monastery, which is the most ornately decorated monastery we will see on our trek.

Everyone is doing very very well. We are hoping that the skies over Everest will clear overnight and provide us with what has been an elusive view so far.

Please check back with us tomorrow,

Carole & Vern Tejas
