Everest Basecamp Trek – Khumbu Kutlets Fry it up in Phakding

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

We woke to clear blue skies— a most welcome change — and spent the morning lounging, taking photos and exploring “downtown” Namche. The commercial opportunities (-shopping!) in this town are like no other in the Khumbu and we hit it hard.

After lunch, we reluctantly said goodbye to our hosts at the Panorama Lodge and started our trek to Phakding. As we walked through small villages and past farming plots, we were struck again and again by the greenery, color and dramatic natural beauty of the lower valley.

We arrived at our teahouse in the late afternoon. We had time to relax before dinner and socialize with the proprietors —a family whom Vern and I have known for some time and whose teahouse was one of the favorites of the Kutlets.

The Team is still sizzling. Can’t believe that tomorrow is our last day of trekking!
