Kicking off last and first Kilimanjaro climb of the year

Jambo friends, family and loved ones,

Vern Tejas here saying welcome to our exciting ascent of the highest free standing volcano in the world. The team is providing us with a rather creative name, so hence forward we will be known as the “Jaro Ash Holes”. We got to know each other over breakfast answered many questions during our orientation session. Everyone proved they were able to follow instructions by turning up with all the items on our list.

After gear check we toured town. The Uhuru monument was a must see commemorating independence from England

Then it was off to the market to buy everything imaginable….the fruits were amazing

What day would be complete without a celebration dinner. I highly recommend the grilled fish with mashed bananas. Tomorrow we begin climbing the Lemosho route to the top of Africa. Feel free to climb along with us through our daily progress updates.

All our best,
Vern Tejas
