Los Trekadores hike from Lucma to Aguas Calientes

Hello Everyone,

We started early today for our last day of trekking. We had a great dinner, and evening last night at our last lodge before heading to the base of Machu Picchu this morning.

Our hiked started on an old Incan trail ascending a couple thousand feet in the jungle to a pass where we got our first view of Machu Picchu in the distance. We have had beautiful weather everyday of this trek so far and that continued today. We ate fresh trout for lunch while enjoying still yet incredible views of snow capped peaks in the distance and Machu Picchu in the foreground. After lunch we had a steep descent down to the Urabamba river where we walked to the train station for a ride into Aguas Calientes. It was a tiring day but didn’t stop the enthusiasm for arriving near our destination, Machu Picchu. We just finished up another fantastic dinner and are heading of to bed for another full day tomorrow. We will tour Machu Picchu for most of the morning tomorrow and then make our way back to Cusco in the afternoon by train and van. It’s been an incredible trek, with great people and new friends. The magical experience of Machu Picchu awaits us tomorrow!

Talk to you soon,

Ben
