Mera Peak Team Hones their Skills

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

The Team had a great day today, thanks to much improved weather here in Khote. This morning, we took a short hike to explore the wild terrain of this valley. Large, mossy boulders scattered both sides of the river and flowering Rhododendron trees lined the path. It is a beautiful valley, shaped by creative destruction: massive floods caused by glacial lake outbursts and various seismic events (most recently in 1998) contributed to the other-worldly appearance of thus place.

This afternoon, we set up a ropes course so that the Team could practice ascending fixed lines and rappelling down. We practiced passing anchors and rigging our rappel with both our heavy gloves and our mittens. Everyone was looking pro by the end of the day.

We’re all feeling good and are well acclimatized so tomorrow morning we are going to head up to Tangnag.

Thanks for following!
