Namaste friends, family and loved ones,
Crystal clear weather was a joy to start the day in. We got some beautiful views of the surrounding mountains for our first time.
The Hinku valley that we are treking up shows much flood damage. Several village homes of Tangnag were washed away when in 1998 an earthquake dropped a huge mass of glacier a thousand feet into a moraine lake and the moraine burst releasing over 2000 sq. meters of water. The breach in the moraine is impressive.
Through the sunlight V behind town millions of gallons of water and ice poured in minutes, lowering the lake level 150 feet.
We’re planning to spend two nights here to acclimatize. So far, we are all doing well and in good spirits.
All our best,
Carole and Vern Tejas
