Mexico Volcanoes: The Team Arrives at Itzaccihuatl

Good evening Cybercast listeners, this is Hannah McGowan with our team here at the La Jolla Trailhead on Itzaccihuatl. We arrived here today around mid-morning/early afternoon. We created our camps, got all settled in, had a delicious lunch of cooked chicken and rice in the form of tacos and then we headed up for an acclimatization hike, up to 4200 m today. Breathed some thin air, saw beautiful views and most notably watched Popo, the volcano south of us, put out lots and lots of smoke which is very cool to see, I’m sure you’ll see photos later! The whole team is doing really well. We came back here, had a good rest, got organized and ate a delicious dinner of soup and more chicken and vegetables so everyone is well fed and this trip is just off to a great start we’re here at our first mountain now and we could not be more psyched. So thanks so much for tuning in and we’re sending love to you wherever you are. Thanks. Bye.
