Repeat Ascenders Ascend to Thagnak

Namaste friends, family and loved ones,

We were feeling good and acclimatizing well in Khote so we decided to gain some more elevation and move closer to Mera Peak itself. This morning, we left Khote and trekked up the valley to Thagnak. The weather was cool and sunny and we all enjoyed the walk up the wild valley, strewn with boulders from the long-ago flood. Lots of good conversation and snappy reparteé.

We saw a small avalanche come off the ridge on the far side of the valley. We will send photos from our day as soon as technology permits.

We’ll spend two nights here in Thagnak, at about 13,700 feet, and acclimatize some more.

Thanks for following,

Vern and Carole Tejas
