The June 9th Expedition has chosen it’s name: “Rice-A-Roni: The San Francisco Treat!”

Denali team 9 is now dubbed “Rice-A-Roni: The San Francisco Treat!”
We came out of the tents and gout before the twilight sun peeped over the peaks and warmed the camp. It was only 29F but it felt colder for men still acclimatizing.
We cooked and ate breakfast in the trench of a prior team.
We set out up ski hill. The ground was cold and firm and our snow shoes steel teeth gently rumbled and crunched up.
The peaks surrounding us all dwarfed by the Denali summit to the north. Every one of these peaks would be the center piece of a national park if they were not next to this titan.
It was hot but clouds built up around us. Sometimes pulling the rug on the climbers from humid heat to instant chill.
Coulds gathered around, alabaster castles.
We dig a cache hole and stashed half of our supplies and personal equipment
We trotted back to camp, and gulped down water keeping dehydration at bay. It was a day of extremes.

Submission by Jess, Alaska Operations. Julia was clearly on the same wavelength because just a few weeks before, […]
