Woke up this morning at 4am to clear skies, cold temps and gusty winds.
Left for a summit attempt at 6am but were turned back by fresh windslabs and scoured firm slopes from a recent storm. Can see why only one group has summited in recent days: its more like winter up there than summer.
Not to be shut out, we spent the afternoon exploring the depths of a nearby crevasse: practicing prusiking and rescue hauling techniques. After all, how often does one get to dwell in the belly of a beast?
The team is now in bed, dreaming of the libations and grub awaiting tomorrow.
