Mera Peak Team Gets Organized

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

It was a busy day today in Kathmandu for the Team. This morning, we toured three Unesco World Heritage Sights. Things were hopping at the Monkey Temple, one of the oldest in Kathmandu.

Next, we went to Pashupati, a Sacred Hindu Temple and cremation site. While we were there, Gordon ran into some old friends- see below.

Last stop on the tour was Boudnath. We had time there to observe a Buddhist puja ceremony and walk around the stupa. Many Tibetan refugees were also doing their kora (circumabulation) of the huge monument.

Our gear check went smoothly– this team is prepared! We had time after our orientation meeting this afternoon to buy the couple of last minute items that we needed.

At our team dinner tonight, on the menu was a gourmet version of Dal Bhat, the traditional Nepali meal that most locals eat every day, twice a day. It was a good introduction to what we might expect to be eating in the Hinku Valley.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, we plan to fly to Lukla. We will report back to you from there.
