The Assenders ascend to Kumjung at 12,450 feet.

Namaste friends, family, and loved ones. Last night’s storm brought in clear, cold weather, and today was radiant. We climbed 1000 feet up above Namche to the mountain village of Kunde. Along the way we were treated to spectacular views of the highest Himalaya. Mt. Ama Dablam was particularly gorgeous. Another 1000ft. vertical brought us to the Hillary view point. We all loved the side trip! On our descent, we paid a visit to Kunde Hospital, where Dr Kami talked to us about the history of the hospital and its mission to improve the healthcare of the people living in this valley. He’s an extraordinary individual. After lunch, we toured the famous Hillary school and museum in the neighboring village of Khumjung. Of course we enjoyed posing with Sir Edmund Hillary. The team is doing really well and is eager to head up the Khumbu valley. All our best,Carole & Vern Tejas
