2019 TAPS Team Completes Salkantay Trek!

Hola friends, family and loved ones!

Five fun filled days of trekking got us over the 15,000 foot sacred Salkantay Pass. Along our way we visited Humantay Lake, Salkantay Mountain and a coffee plantation.

Photo 1: Our team and local staff in Soray Pampa. From here we climb the terminal moraine of Humantay Glacier to take in the view.

Photo 2: Lakeside with Mount Humantay!

Photo 3&4: Then the trek began in ernest with clouds moving up the valley to swallow us up. A very cloudy pass could not dampen our spirit

Photo 5: We finished off the day with a celebration! Cake and hot cocoa, what more could one want!

The team has pulled together and is very supportive. Members are growing each day and enjoying the process.

All our best,Carolina & Vern Tejas

These fancy, lightweight, and expensive items naturally give us pause at the laundry room door. We automatically know not to treat our down gear like a cotton t-shirt. So what’s […]

The Pee Bottle and Pee Funnel

The Flats, Ingraham Glacier, Mount Rainier – 10:00 p.m. It’s the night before your summit push, and you’re lying in your tent wide awake. Your tentmate is fast asleep next to you. Adrenaline and nervous energy made it difficult for you both to settle down after dinner, especially since the Pacific Northwest sun was still […]
